In the vicinity of Amukela are a lot of interesting places worth a visit. Amukela is only 20 minutes from Hoedspruit and this makes the lodge a perfect base for daytrips.
All daytrips can be undertaken in your own car, guided tours are available on request.
Elephants are fascinating animals. Meet these gentle giants up close on one of the activities that we can book for you.
On the Elephantback-safari you go on the back of an elephant looking for wild animals.

take pictures and even touch the elephants.

A smaller reserve offers several different elephant experiences varying from a one hour
elephant interaction to a 2 hour experience including a ride on the elephant, interaction and
a picknick!

These activities are very popular and we advise to book them in advance. the elephantback safari, a unique experience!

Kruger Park
The world-renowned Krugerpark, with its abundancy of animals is a must to visit.
The park stretches from the Small-Drakensberg till Mozambique making it one of the biggest game reserves on
the world with a wide variety of animals. Elephants, lions, rhino's, cheetah, zebra, giraffe, wildebeest, buffalo,
hippo, leopard as well as lots of birds, ranging from the martial eagle to the kingfisher, roam freely here.

lions. Visit the Elephants museum in Letaba, or go to Mopani camp, which is a very scenic drive.
We can give you advise about the nicest routes in this national park.
Amukela is ideally located to make daytrips into the Krugerpark.
You can either take the Orpen or Phalaborwa-gate, about 45 minutes drive from our lodge.
Walk with a lioncub.
At a neighbouring game-reserve it is possible to walk with a lioncub. Sometimes the tame cheetah Savannah also joins you on the walk.
After the 2-hour lion-walk in the bush,  you'll get an extensive breakfast.
In the same reserve you also can go on a game-drive. Because of the relatively small size of this reserve (5000 hectares) there's a good chance to see
some of the Big-5. If you're lucky you meet Becky, the elephant who was raised by humans since her birth. She is used to humans and sometimes comes
close to the game-vehicle.
These excursions are quite popular, so we can't guarantee that there's is always availability as the guests of Tshukudu go first.
